In December 2013, the new blowers at wastewater treatment plant Ahnatal-Heckershausen were taken into operation. Together with the builder’s yard of the municipality of Ahnatal, the wastewater plant’s staff and specialist firms, the new blower levels were brought into service. The municipal staff handled the removal of the old blowers, the transport and the setting up of the new blowers as well as their starting-up. Only the electrical connection and the pipe works were executed by two specialist firms. As a result of the redesign, the motor power of the blowers was reduced from 30 to 18.5 kW. The power savings are considerable: in 2014, 25% less electricity was used.
