As part of ‘Fit for Partnership with Germany’, the manager training programme of the Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy (Bundesministeriums für Wirtschaft und Energie – BMWi), on 12 March 2020, about 20 participants from three countries (Republic of Moldova, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan) convened in the offices of IWR GmbH. Executive director Frederik Maurer first introduced the company’s service profile and personnel management and also spoke about specific drainage methods.

Afterwards, Markus Bayer and Volker Zang gave a tour of the pneumatic sewer system at high water pump station Köln-Mülheim of Stadtentwässerungsbetriebe Köln (StEB) and also delivered a lecture that addressed the technology and innovation aspects of the visit. Questions by the participants were answered in great detail. The main focus of the questions lay on the implementation of drainage projects and technologies.

“I am very impressed by the vacuum canalisation projects, as we could implement this concept in Uzbekistan” participant Shukrath Ermamatov summed up the visit.
