Progress and challenges of the construction work in Feldatal

Construction work on the Feldatal through road is progressing. Representatives of the Vogelsberg district, the contractor Caspar and the engineering firm IWR GmbH took part in the latest construction meeting. So far, around 240 meters of sewer and water pipes as well as house connections have been replaced. The next step is to set the kerbs so that the base course can be laid before the onset of winter. Construction will then continue in the direction of Sonnenstraße/local exit – weather permitting. A particular challenge was posed by the crossing of the Mühlenkanal, whose dilapidated concrete pipes under the fire station had to be replaced. Thanks to good coordination, the problem was solved quickly.

Sustainability and cooperation as the key to success

For safety reasons, a large-scale detour has been signposted and open excavation pits have been properly secured. The schedule envisages that the first construction phase will be asphalted and – weather permitting – could be completed by May. Special attention is being paid to sustainable construction: The impact on nature and the existing village structure will be kept to a minimum. Residents are regularly informed about progress and the local council is in close contact with the municipal administration regarding the Feldatal through road. Thanks to the smooth cooperation of all those involved, it has been possible to avoid scheduling and financial implications, which means that the construction work is progressing on schedule for all residents.
