About 13,000 inhabitants are connected to the public water supply in these areas, in addition to agricultural enterprises and other businesses as well as public institutions such as schools, nursery schools and sports grounds. Most of the drinking water reservoirs of WBV were built in the 1970s. All pipes still consist of cast iron (SGCI). WBV D\u00f6rnberg has decided that all pipes within the drinking water reservoirs shall be gradually replaced with stainless steel pipes. In addition to the renewal of the pipelines in the elevated tank D\u00f6rnberg II, minor demolition work, new lighting and a new entrance to the water chamber have been carried out.<\/p>\n<h4>What needs to be considered when renovating an elevated tank?<\/h4>\n<p>When renovating elevated tanks, particular attention must be paid to ensuring the water quality and extending the service life. Deposits must be removed regularly and the leak tightness and function of the technical equipment must be checked. Damage caused by corrosion, material fatigue or leaks requires targeted repairs, the replacement of wearing parts and the application of new protective coatings. Careful planning of the refurbishment is necessary, as work often requires the temporary shutdown of the tank. Specialist knowledge and precision are crucial to ensure the reliability of the drinking water supply.
